ETHNIC SUPPORT COUNCIL THANKS COMMUNITY FOR ITS GENEROUS SUPPORT

Thank you to all the individuals and businesses who contributed to the success of the Ethnic Support Council's 20th annual International Dinner & Auction, which celebrated Native American culture and cuisine on Sept. 9, 2016.

We appreciate all the people who attended to support our agency. It was wonderful to see new faces and welcome back longtime friends.

We thank everyone who donated items, services and experiences for our live and silent auctions. The three tables of silent auction items brought in more than $2,300 and the live auction garnered more than $8,500.

We also thank the local bakeries, restaurants and individuals who donated delicious goodies for our ever popular Dessert Dash, which raised more than $4,800.

The "paddle raise" appeal resulted in more than $11,000. The Bruno's Pizza gourmet night gave ESC more than $1,000.

Thank you to Summerland Catering for preparing and serving a delicious Native American meal as well as Jason Demicheli with Demicheli Auctions Inc. for encouraging people to give generously. Many thanks to Ome Iztacuauhtli for an incredible Aztec dance performance and to benefactors Amy Baker with Dave Spurgeon, Wesley Johnson, Shawn Marvin and Pets, Pawns & Instruments.

We were honored by Tracie Driver and Marie Dancing Star LaMere for sharing their Native American heritaging by loaning us items from their personal collections to decorate.

Of course, the International Dinner & Auction would not happen without the people who volunteer their time planning the event and those who help before, during and after the event.

The committee will start meeting again in early 2017 to start planning the 21st annual International Dinner & Auction, which will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 in the Cowlitz County Expo Center.

We are open to suggestions for next year's theme and we would love to have more people serve on our planning committee!

To get involved, please contact ESC executive director Bill Reade atscouse22@msn.comor ESC board president Cindy Lopez Werth at cindylopezwerth@comcast.net.
